Overdrive Interactive’s 2010 Summer Outing at Thompson Island
On June 15th, the Overdrive team ventured into the great outdoors for our 4th Annual Summer Outing. This year’s outing was held on Thompson Island, one of the six ferry-accessible islands located in the Boston Harbor.
The office had been buzzing all week, and when Friday finally arrived, the fun-loving crowd from Overdrive happily boarded a ferry and set sail for a day of adventure.
Upon our arrival at Thompson Island, we were let loose for a high-energy, cut-throat scavenger hunt in 96 degree summer weather. Five teams of Overdrivers scoured the island, searching for a host of natural and manmade sights and delights. After a two hour mission, we reconvened and handed our treasures over to the judges. Congratulations to Team David, whose tie-breaking driftwood discovery lead the team to victory in a close race with Team Ty.
With our competitive spirits momentarily satisfied, lunch was served and the bar was open! Our long morning of scavenging was rewarded with a decadent and delicious summer feast. Overdrivers marveled over bright red lobsters, steamers, clam chowder, corn on the cob, and an assortment of other Clambake delights.
After lunch, an afternoon of sports, sun and swimming commenced. The Overdrive team played a rousing game of Volleyball, faced off in Bags, and even ran through the sprinkler. To the relief of many, the appeal of the sprinkler far exceeded that of the kickball tournaments of past year’s summer outings.
At the end of the day, over forty weary Summer Outing attendees boarded a Boston-bound ferry and sailed off into the sunset.
Special thanks to Meryl and the Overdrive Interactive Party Planning Committee for organizing such a fun-filled, action-packed Summer Outing! Can’t wait for next year!
