YouTube Enhances Homepage for All Users

It seems like this is the year for face lifts in social media channels. So its about time that YouTube joined in and upgraded its homepage. After the largest worldwide video-sharing community spent time listening to its users, the goal was to provide a more personalized and relevant experience for all users.

With many new adjustments, YouTube began by removing the less popular modules such as “Videos Being Watched Right Now”, and rearranged some others around the site. As these changes were made, it allowed more room for the site to offer recommendations for users, suggested videos, and those being watched and shared by friends.

Users who are logged in will see the enhancements the next time they visit the site; some of these changes include more focus on videos that matter to that user, a filter feature to show only the latest uploads from those channels you are subscribed to, and having the ability to see all uploads from a channel (rather than just the most recent).

Additionally, YouTube has enhanced the user experience by offering easier access to your Inbox, graying out videos you have already watched, and providing an “x” when hovering over a video to easily remove it from the homepage.

While some users have reservations about the changes in YouTube’s homepage, many see it as an upgrade. Ultimately, the video-sharing site wants to offer a more personalized experience for each user and they believe these new changes put them on the right track.
