Flash Banners

Flash animation banners are a combination of animated imagery and text that are created with Adobe Flash. Flash banners are more dynamic and exciting than standard banners. The banners display a series of messages and images, and thus provide more real estate for content. Currently, Flash banners cannot run on an iPad and some other tablet devices, so animated gifs may still be required.

In the example above, the original standard banner was re-done using Flash to connect different parts of the content.

Rich Media Banners

Rich-media banners provide the most viewer interaction and engagement features. The banners encourage clicks, roll overs, transactions, and other measurable online actions. Due to their complexity, there are higher ad serving and development costs associated with rich-media banners. The next section will explore rich media banners in more detail.
