Trying to take the plunge into the local deals space, Yahoo! has announced it will be launching “Local Offers” which will work in conjunction with partners such as Groupon, LivingSocial and Coupons.com.
The ability for creating engaging users is right up Yahoo!’s alley, with more than 180 million unique users – giving them the ability to provide the targeting needed to direct traffic to local businesses and merchants with local offers.
This type of social engagement has proven to be successful, allowing users to interact with different brands’ products and services while acquiring deals and discounts that are directly targeted for their benefit.
With Yahoo! stepping up and joining in the location-based fun, we will have to stay tuned for the official launch of this service to see exactly what it will entail and how it will compare to the other similar location-based services that have recently been announced.
